What is it about Enema and Absorption?
Enemas, as I use them, are given primarily to enhance detoxification in the bloodstream
and as a means of introducing cleansing and healing agents like herbs through out the whole body. It is not for “rinsing out” the (descending) colon, although this is an added benefit, and I use it sometimes for that.
That is why some use coffee rather than water in their enema.
It is to introduce cleansing and healing agents into the body general. [More on that later] That is what Dr. Max Gerson
did and is still being done as part of Gerson Therapy.
Some critics of Gerson use of enema say that enemas are dangerous, causing dehydration and electrolyte imbalances and death. They are noting cases where colonic was overused and misused. Correctly used colonics are beneficial. But here is the rest of the story.
While colonic and enemas on the surface seem to be the same thing they are not. The colonic deals with the entire system, ascending and descending colon. Enema only deals with the descending colon, and, as I use it, only a part of that. On the first level the critics are mixing apples and oranges. [In a figure of speech colonic and enema may be used interchangeably, but they are not the same thing.]
Gerson did not use colonics because he also was concerned about mineral loss and possible dehydration. His style of coffee enema used 32 ounces [a colonic uses 5 gallons], just enough to fill the descending colon. Mineral absorption is thereby only minimally affected. An additional factor to be considered is that the coffee solution itself contains the mineral potassium as well as the caffeine and palmitic acid salts.
You heard right. The minerals in the coffee are absorbed. What you put in your enema is absorbed directly into your bloodstream.
This is the mechanism for medicinal enemas.
I hate to bring up this account of absorption because as soon as I do someone is going to try it. Do not do what I am about to tell you about. It is meant to be an illustration that absorption does happen and that directly into the bloodstream. This can be harmful and dangerous.
I knew a deputy who was on a drug raid at a house. While they were making their why through the house looking for suspects, he opened the door to a bedroom and found an extremely obese woman giving herself an enema. He quickly backed out and had a lady officer go in.
What was going on was what some writers call recreational enema. She was giving herself a wine enema. The deputy asked her why she would do that.
She said that the wine goes directly into the blood and gives an instant rush. I do not know if that was something enhanced by the use of other drugs or what. That is not the point here.
What she was injecting in the enema was instantly going into her body general.
For medicinal purpose you can do the same thing with herbs or other healing agents. Those things injected into the rectum will be absorbed directly into the bloodstream.
