Stop Thinking and Heal?

What should you think about during a healing session?

One should not think; he should experience. Strange as it may seem thinking is at best a distraction from the healing process. Often we interrupt our experience by thinking.  When we do, we mare the experience with our preconceptions and expectations.

In the way I am using the term we sometimes spontaneously ‘experience’ things. It can happen in many ways, but consider this example. You may have been on the beach as the sun is setting. Of that experience you may have said, “The sunset was so beautiful that time stood still.”

That ‘time stood still’ event was not involved in analyzing the happening. It was not naming things in the event. It was not in the application of words. It is moving into a place of total innocence.

The Bible says except you become as a little child you shall not enter …

It is with child like innocence that you observed the sunset. On the adult level you are not thinking about it, rather with eyes of your inner child you are observing. You are absorbing it without word.  You are in a world before words.  Just being experiencing being.

When we return to a world before words, we have entered this tranquility where healing flourishes.

To get to this innocence, I use three d’s. Denote, disown, and dismiss.

A word is an adult creation. When a word arises in your quest for child-like innocence, denote it, say hello to it. “Oh hello.”

Then once denoted, about the word ask, “Who does that belong to?” You have disowned that word, denied ownership.

Finally, to the word say, good-bye, bye-bye, so long, or dismissed. “Bye.”

Exercise. – Look at a flower. Just observe it.  Do not think flower.  Just observe it.

The word rose may ease into your mind. “Oh hello … Who does that belong to? … Bye.” You likely feel a slight shift in your head at this point. You are moving into child-like innocence. Just observe.

The word red may come into your thinking. “Oh hello … Who does that belong to? … Bye.” You likely feel a shift in your mind at this point. You are moving into child-like innocence. Just observe.

The word petal may come up. “Oh hello … Who does that belong to? … Bye.” You likely feel a shift in your brain at this point. You are moving into child-like innocence. Just observe. … Etc.

The longer you do the exercise the deeper you can get into innocence. This is the non-thinking innocence that you should go for during a hesaling session. Do not think. Just observe.

In autogenics this is called passive concentration. [Please see now the page on hypnosis and autogenics, because as you can imagine there is more info there.]

calls this entering into tranquility. “Entering into tranquility means training the mind to be silently aware without any particular point of focus. … The mind is not thinking about but rather experiencing directly, immediately, without the mediation of thoughts and concepts.”

Dare I say the devil is in the details.

May be in session you feel your stomach growling [common in session]. When you think my “stomach” is … , “Oh hello … Who does that belong to? … Bye.” You likely feel a shift in your head at this point. You are moving into child-like innocence. Just observe.

May be you sense an “angel” above you. When you think there is an angel … “Oh hello … Who does that belong to? … Bye.” You likely feel a shift in your brain at this point. You are moving into child-like innocence. Just observe.

You may think you are having a “vision”. When you think I am having a vision [concept word] … “Oh hello … Who does that belong to? … Bye.” You likely feel a shift in your mind at this point. You are moving into child-like innocence. Just observe it.

I remember once, as I was having a session, I was just observing. Suddenly I thought “I am smelling green”. “Oh hello … Who does that belong to? … Bye.” I returned to just observing, experiencing, silence, tranquility.

When we return to a world before words, before thinking, we have entered this tranquility where healing flourishes.

Autogenic Coaching Added To Healing?

Can healing methods be combined?

Autogenics operates on a fundamental principle called “passive concentration”.

Dr. Kai Kermani says, “Passive concentration is the simplest yet most important concept in autogenic training.”

This is a principle, although not so called, often vaguely told to the healing patience and students. In autogenics though this principle is central to the method. So, one of my current protocols calls for an abbreviated autogenic coaching session before and in concert with a method I maybe using. The person in this gets to experience passive concentration. Then when the healing session proper starts, he is ready to do passive concentration in the session.

As Dr. Kermani says the principle is simple and with me it is simply coached. There is a combination breathing and mentally instructing your body to do certain things. This is followed by a simple suggestion. The client is not supposed to do anything except observe and see what is happening in his body.

The client in the best methods  just concentrates on observing what is going on in his body, in his mind, and in his spirit. He does not try to make anything happen. He just experiences “passive concentration” in his total awareness.

For example, when I had my first reconnective healing session (under Dr. Eric Pearl system),

I had an unusual observation. I observed that I was smelling green. (No, do not ask me what green smelled like.) if I had been trying to do something like heal, I think I would have missed that observation. Passive observation is critical.

I was not doing the smelling. I was not trying to initiate the smelling. I was observing the smelling. This is the essence of “passive concentration”. This ability to observe is what is gained from experiential autogenic coaching first.

Each session is different and what you observe is different. One person saw and talked to family member that had already passed. Another encountered a host of angles. One saw his life as a child, etc. They did not do this or look for this; they just observed it. Some observed feelings in their body. Others saw visions. Some channel. And more. The key was that it was “passive observation” in the healing session.

The client will right off the bat be passively concentrating on the happenings in the  session.

So, with autogenics first the client is not left with a vague direction as to how he is to participate passively in the session. He instead has has practical experiential knowledge of what he is to do in the session, “passive concentration”.

A familiarity with passive concentration makes for a more powerful healing session.

It is not chronic pain?

Chronic pain reconsidered?

There is a book out that deals with chronic pain. It is written by a surgeon from Seattle. Research now shows that chronic pain is different than regular pain.

It even resides in a different part of the brain. When pain moves from the pain center of the brain, it takes up residence in the area that is the home of anxiety and anger.

For thousands of years chi gong masters have been saying the answer is relax.  When asked a second time they say relax.  And the third.  They intuitively knew what science is now proving.

We are now discovering scientifically that when we turn off the brain anxiety zone from inordinate activity that chronic pain vanishes or is drastically diminished.

I saw this once in myself. I was having persistent back and sciatic problem. I thought is was an old injury flaring up. My job at the time was causing much anxiety and sublimated anger. The morning after I was out of that job the pain vanished.

A message therapist told me of a school principle who came to her at the beginning of each school year. Why then? Anxiety about the coming year. He needed relief from pain related to anxiety zone stimulation. After things were up and going at school, anxiety was set aside, there was no need for the therapy.

Sometimes the problem is not the pain, which is only proximity related to anxiety.

When I with alternatives help you deal with anxiety, the pain may subside.

Yes, the pain is real. But it is not in some situations the pain that is the problem. The problem is an over stimulated anxiety/anger center.

Often chronic pain can be dealt with by dealing with anxiety and/or anger because the pain lives with these two.

I was shocked to hear the surgeon author say that alternatives in such situation work better than surgery. He even said some back surgeries are harmful rather than helpful, because the back here is not the problem.

Something like autogenics, used widely in Europe, has shown amazing results. When calmness is reintroduced the anxiety/anger center is de-stimulated and the chronic pain, pain residing in that zone, goes away.
